What a day for the Washington Nordic Cup Race here in Plain, 11am-2pm!! Come out and support some of the best skiers in Washington and bring your cowbell! The Sprint Loop will be closed for the race and volunteers will be coordinating parking at Meadow Loop Parking Lot and directing guests to pick up their spectator passes and make their way to the walking path to the race.
If you are looking to just ski during that time, it will probably be best to continue down to one of the other 2 trailheads.
Temperatures got down to 10 degrees again and it will be another sunny and beautiful day to get out and ski. Even for the lack of fresh snow, we have been so thankful that the trails have been holding up and the skiing has been great. The best conditions will be the open areas, with trails getting thin on the Hot Tub Hill and Hitching Post areas of Mountain Springs Lodge.
The SnoCat spent most of the morning prepping for the race in the Sprint Loop, but also was able to set skate on the Meadow Loop and the Beaver Creek Trail out to Mountain Springs Lodge and a pass up Mill Hill. The Ginzu was used to freshen up the skate lane on Rowdy Coyote and the Beaver Creek Trail north of Mountain Springs Lodge all the way out to the Clear Creek Turnaround hitting all of the loops and side trails along the way.
(Cougar Run, Chainsaw Ridge and Lumi Lane are still closed until we get more snow.)
Parking lots are very icy and micro spikes are highly recommended, walk with care.
