Groomer's Report, Saturday 3/18

Good morning skiers!

As of 8:00 AM, the temp is 24 degrees under broken clouds. Yesterday's high was 48 and the low was 24. Just a reminder that we will be limiting our grooming just a bit as the season winds down. We are starting to have some melt out areas. Check back daily for updated conditions and trail status.

There is fresh skate and classic set with the PB100 on the Meadow Loop trails, BCT to Mtn. Springs and upper Mill Hill. It tilled out beautifully but with the warmer over night temps will need a bit more set time to firm up. It should be good by the time of this report. Sprint loop was only groomed for skate but the classic track still looks good.

Up valley we did a little extra for the weekend! We set fresh track yesterday afternoon when it was soft on the BCT between Swamp Creek and Stonewater and on the Stonewater, Swamp Creek and Shotgun Meadow loops. The skate lanes were touched up on the BCT all the way between Mountain Springs and Clear Creek lodge as well as on some of the side loops. Expect the skating up valley to be frim in the AM. The trail re-route on the BCT over the bridge at Mountain Springs has melted. You will want to walk that section but once back on the main trail coverage is good.

Today's picture is from BCT near the Meadow Loop trail head.

TRAIL RE-ROUTE - BEAVER CREEK TRAIL AT MT. SPRINGS - Each spring the Yakima Indians plant fish in a pond just north of Hot Tub Hill. To get to the pond with their large truck they have to plow the ski trail down to dirt in that area. As horse sleigh rides are done for the year, we have permission to route the trail over the horse bridge, connecting back to the BCT just past the Hitching Post area.

TRAIL CLOSURE - SOUTH SIDE GRIZZLY MOUNTAIN - We have a growing melt out on the south side so we have decided to close that side. You can still ski to the summit viewpoint from the north side trail (original route).

Still great skiing out there. Warmer temps are in the forecast, but today's skiing in the AM should still feel like winter!

Today's groomer was Jason & Rob D.

Happy Skiing!
