Grooming Report... 2/6/2025

Today is looking like it will be the warmest day of the week and trails continue to get softer out there and the snow continues to slowly melt away, but temperatures did get down to just about freezing last night, so a morning ski should be pretty nice. We are not going to pretend that these are perfect mid-Winter conditions because it is looking and feeling like early Spring when the trails are thinking more about next season when we will have a lot more snow, but we are not giving up yet and will continue to do the best we can. The next week looks like more of the same where we are getting temps up to 40 during the day and down to the low 30's at night. As for the trails, there are still areas that have good skiing especially early in the morning and in the northern sections, but the areas of concern are struggling to hold up and there are many areas that are getting fully saturated.

Ginzu's were used last night grooming fresh skate and classic on the Meadow Loop and the Cut-Off's, while it was just skate on the BCT out to the northern terminus, making passes on Stonewater Loop, the Beaver Creek Loop and Swamp Creek Loop and Grizzly Mtn.  You will still find a mix of nice trails in most of the open meadows and thin/narrow/uneven trails as you head into any of trails in the trees.

CAUTION AREAS: The south side of Hot Tub Hill is completely bare now, so walking up or around the lodge (see the posted map) are the best options. The Hitching Post area is getting thin and narrow, but is still barely passable, but the section from Mountain Springs to Stonewater is getting thin in spots, but still able to be skied. The Walk-In Trailhead bare spot is now trail wide and skiing through the stadium to the far entrance of the Meadow Loop is an option. We are still using the Stonewater detour to their walking bridge, so be sure to follow the signs if you are trying to ski the BCT through that area. Grizzly Mtn. also has a trail wide melt out on the ascent up and the pond at the road crossing is getting bigger.

CLOSED TRAILS include Sprint Loop and all of the Mill Hill Complex (Mill Hill, Rowdy Coyote, Chainsaw Ridge, Cougar Run and Lumi Lane) due to exposed ground and melt outs. Signs are posted.

PARKING LOTS: The Beaver Creek Parking Lot is now CLOSED due to the mud, so proceed to the Osprey Lodge Trailhead which is holding up the best as it is an actual gravel parking lot. The Meadow Loop parking lot is definitely struggling right now and has areas that are very soft and muddy, so all wheel drive is recommended and please do your best to park on firmer ground.

Our Saturday Clinics (10am-12pm) have been very popular with the kids, but we just wanted to give a reminder that they are great for all ages and can be customized for skate or classic. It's a great way to learn better technique and the ability to enjoy our sport even more. Information and sign up can be found HERE.

TRAIL PASSES ARE ALL ONLINE and can be purchased HERE, and as always, kids ski free, but they also need an online PASS.
