There will be a brief closure of the BCT this afternoon at Mountain Springs Lodge from 3:50pm - 4:50pm due to a wedding ceremony. Signs will be posted closing the trail and unfortunately there is no detour because of Rowdy Coyote being closed, so please plan accordingly. SAFETY NOTICE : DO NOT SKI ON SLEIGH TRAILS at Mountain Springs Lodge. Please obey the signs and only ski on groomed ski trails. We finally have something new to report, the temperature last night tumbled

TGIF!!!, and we are thankful to still have snow to groom, even if it is starting to get thin in some areas. We are still in that same pattern of no new snow, but temperatures dropping into the mid 20's at night and getting up into the low 30's during the day under mostly cloudy skies. It is helping to keep the snow that we do have, but the trails are thirsty for more and the current forecast doesn't seem to know when that is going to happen. We remain hopeful though and ju

Once again, it's almost a carbon copy of the same weather we've had for almost 2 weeks with temperatures last night dropping down into the high 20's and today looking cloudy with temps into the 30's. We can't complain too much, because it is helping up maintain a majority of our trails as it seems like someone just hit pause on the weather patterns in the PNW. We are still in low snow conditions, but overall trails are still holding up nicely around all of the trailheads an

It feels like we are stuck in the movie Groundhog Day and we are reliving the same weather day after day, but at least we are in a cycle of colder temperatures where our trails are mostly holding up. Temperatures got down into the high 20's last night and the forecast is looking like cloudy skies and temps in the low 30's. We are continuing to be in low snow conditions, but there is still some really good skiing to be found especially in the meadows around all 3 trailheads

Another night of temperatures dropping down into the mid 20's and the forecast for today is looking to be just about the same as yesterday. These cold temperatures are really good for the trails and even though we have not had any new snow for almost 2 weeks, there is some really nice corduroy being produced and where there are still classic tracks, they are holding up quite nicely. The best conditions will still be in the open meadows around each of the trailheads with tra

SAFETY NOTICE : DO NOT SKI ON SLEIGH TRAILS at Mountain Springs Lodge. Please obey the signs and only ski on groomed ski trails. It's going to be another great day to get out and ski as temperatures last night dropped down into the 20's and even though we didn't get any new snow, the forecast for today is for sunny skies and temps in the mid 30's. While we are still experiencing overall low snow conditions, the open trails are still holding up and if you wanted to ski th

Just a reminder that we are still in low snow conditions, but overall most of the trails are holding up quite well and there is some really good skiing out on our trails. Temperatures last night dropped down into the high 20's again and are still below freezing this morning before the fog burns off and they rise into the mid 30's. Trails will be firm this morning and softening up by the afternoon. Best trails will continue to be in the meadows around all 3 trailheads and u

Now that the temperatures are dropping below freezing at night, it is making for very firm trails that are lasting most of the day. It is both good and challenging news as it means the trails are firming up, but is making some of the thin trails feel more like ice especially in the trees, so use caution any time you head into the trees on steep terrain. Be aware of organic materials that are dropping from the trees and dotting the trails. We are doing our best with the sno

Signs will be posted closing the trail and suggesting the Rowdy Coyote detour. Temperatures last night did drop down to just below freezing and the forecast is for it to be partly sunny with the temps slowly rising back into the 40's..Trails will be firm this morning and icy in some spots especially in the trees and shaded spots. After temperatures almost hitting 50 again yesterday, but eventually dropped down to freezing early this morning, so we continued our modified grooming and ginzu's were used last night to set fresh skate on the Meadow Loop, the Cut-Offs, the BCT out to Mountain Springs Lodge, Rowdy Coyote, most of Mill Hill (Mud slide on the top), Sprint Loop and the rest of BCT from just past Stonewater Loop out to the Northern Terminus. We skipped the rest of the trails to help preserve th

Because the very warm temperatures yesterday and it not dropping down below freezing last night, we made the difficult decision to not groom the trails for today in an attempt to conserve the base that we have and not make things worse. Grooming in such wet conditions can trap water in the snowpack and actually accelerate melting, so we want to do our best to survive this warm front with minimal impact. We will continue to reevaluate each day and it does look hopeful for ev

Rain, Rain go away, don't come back another day.... It's been roughly 24hrs of light rain and temperatures in the mid 30's last night, not exactly the best conditions for Cross country ski trails that are already dealing with a low snow season. We are going to make it through, but with warmer temperatures for the foreseeable future, we are going to modify the grooming just a little bit to hopefully help preserve the trails as best as we can. We are going to be doing light p

Thank you to everyone that came out to our Full Moon Community Ski last night hosted by our amazing Plain Valley Adventure Women. It was a really fun event and we are already looking forward to next year! Temperatures last night stayed right around freezing, so grooming happened late last night giving the trails plenty of time to set up and the forecast for today is a chance of showers with temperatures jumping up to 40 degrees. Skiing today should be continue to be great,

We hope to see you there! Temperatures last night hovered right around freezing and the forecast for today is calling for the same as yesterday, partly sunny and getting up into the high 30's, which means that the skiing should be really nice again. Today should be another great morning to get out on the trails. Temperatures last night dropped down to just below freezing and although we didn't get any new snow, the trails had plenty of time to set up. The forecast today is calling for a little bit of fog in the morning and then partly sunny skies with highs climbing up towards 40. It looks like our daytime highs for the next week or so are going to be about the same, so we are hoping that the trails will hold up and t

Just a couple of flurries last night, but temperatures did get down to the mid 20's, so with all the new snow that we got in the last couple of days, the corduroy turned out really nice for today and the cold temps mean that the skiing should be great this morning. The forecast for today is partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of snow. Ginzu's were out this morning setting fresh skate on just about all of our open trails and leaving most of the classic tracks from yester

Needless to say, we got the snow that we've been patiently asking for in the form of 10-12 inches on most of the trails, which made for quite the exciting first day of practice yesterday as groomers were scrambling to try to keep up with the snow in the Meadow Loop so that they had something to ski that wasn't up to their knees. So the good news is that we got a lot of new snow, the challenging news is that the temperatures barely got to freezing and the snow compacted very

This afternoon is the first day of Ski Team Practice for a majority of our young skiers, so it will be exciting to see them out on the trails around the Meadow Loop area from 3:30pm - 5:30pm Tues. - Thurs. for the next couple of months. No new snow last night, but temperatures did get down to just below freezing which will help the trails and today's forecast is for them to rise to the mid-30's to go along with the snow starting this morning, which will also be great for the

Patchy fog this morning with the current temperature right around freezing and then partly sunny skies this afternoon with temps climbing up to the high 30's again. A slight dusting of snow fell last night and trails groomed out a bit better than they did for yesterday, but we are still in low snow conditions and are seeing thinner areas in the trees and more uneven trails throughout the system. Be aware of those areas along with more organic material falling from the trees
