Groomer's Report... 12/22/2024

pvst11

Well, it's starting to feel a bit like the movie Groundhog Day, with this weather that doesn't feel a lot like winter.  Daytime temps yesterday were in the mid-high 30's with a bit of rain and lows last night hovering right around freezing.

Grooming was done last night with the SnoCat on the main Meadow Loop setting new classic and skate, along with a skate pass on Sprint Loop.  (It will probably be the last outing for the SnoCat until we get more snow). The rest of the trails got the skate lane freshened up with the Ginzu's and the classic is holding up in most spots. The most firm areas will again be in the Meadow Loop area.

It feels a lot like Spring conditions out there and we are amazed that the trails are holding up as well as they are.  Snow still covers the entirely of the trails for now, but there are thin and icy spots especially under the trees and even some soft spots that where you will see track marks from the groomers.

All 3 trailheads are open and just a reminder that our northern most trailhead is at Osprey Lodge Trailhead at the 1000 Trails main entrance.  (No longer the Clear Creek Trailhead).  As always, use caution in the parking lots as there could be ice (Micro Spikes recommended) and as temps warm up things could get slushy (4wd recommended).

Thank you again to our amazing trail ambassadors that will be out today at the trailheads to welcome you and help answer any questions you might have.

Disclaimer: Our Nordic Pulse map is a work in progress as we are still coordinating the GPS tracking to align with the actual trails, but all trails are currently open except for Cougar Run, Chainsaw Ridge and Lumi Lane.
