Groomer's Report... 12/29/2024

pvst11

We are not sure what is going on with the weather, isn't this supposed to be winter?? We can only imagine how much snow we would have this winter if the temps were low enough that we were getting snow instead of rain..

Last night did get down below freezing around 30 degrees, which means that with all the rain yesterday, it made grooming with Ginzu's a bit rough leaving some small chunks on the trails as we tried to dig the teeth in enough to break up the grooves that were left from yesterday. Ginzu's were used to freshen up just the skate on the Mill Hill complex, including Cougar Run and on all of our trails up north, leaving the classic from yesterday, which was still looking good. The SnoCat was used again on Meadow Loop, Sprint Loop and the BCT to Mountain Springs Lodge setting both skate and classic.

It is currently raining/trying to snow. With these temperature shifts that we've been having, our parking lots have been a challenge. We have been working to clear the slush away, but use caution and as temps start to warm up.

All 3 trailheads are open and just a reminder that our northern most trailhead is at Osprey Lodge Trailhead at the 1000 Trails main entrance, which might be the best option if you have a low clearance vehicle. (No longer the Clear Creek Trailhead). As always, use caution in the parking lots as there could be ice (Micro Spikes recommended) and can be quite slushy as temps warm up (4wd recommended).

Disclaimer: Our Nordic Pulse map is a work in progress as we are still coordinating the GPS tracking to align with the actual trails, but all trails are currently open.
