Good morning skiers! Trails look fantastic today and we have some filter sun. The current temp is 18 after a low of 6, and a high yesterday of 26. No new snow. We have fresh skate on most trails, and a mix of fresh classic and some left from yesterday. Classic tracks have held well with the cold weather of the last several days. We took the PB-100 Snowcat all the way to the Clear Creek Lodge last night so some great skating out there.
Today is the start of the Tour de Plain event/race. You can pick your distance and pick your own start time/day to race. This is a self timed event using your smartphone. Check out the details here: https://www.skiplain.com/tourdeplain Today's picture shows the start area and QR code for the Tour de Plain event.
Our young Plain Valley Nordic Team skiers are racing today at the Intermountain Division Youth Championships at Soldier Hollow, Utah, on the 2002 Winter Olympics course. We've sent 18 skiers that are U14's (and younger) to this race weekend. There are 14 teams and 273 skiers racing. The Intermountain Division encompasses Montana, Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming. This is the final big race of the season for the U14's. Our older skiers are currently training for US Junior Nationals in Fairbanks, held mid-March. Today's race was an interval start skate race, and it looks like we have taken at lease 3 podiums! More details here: https://my.raceresult.com/231586/results#0_3AE4A1
Have fun out there!
