Grooming Report... 1/18/2026

SAFETY NOTICE:  DO NOT SKI ON SLEIGH TRAILS at Mountain Springs Lodge.  Please obey the signs and only ski on groomed ski trails.

It's going to be another great day to get out and ski as temperatures last night dropped down into the 20's and even though we didn't get any new snow, the forecast for today is for sunny skies and temps in the mid 30's. While we are still experiencing overall low snow conditions, the open trails are still holding up and if you wanted to ski the whole BCT, (minus the road crossing, some of the driveway crossing, and Hot Tub Hill), you will surprisingly find coverage. There are some narrow spots in the trees and areas without classic, but it is possible using the walking bridge Detour at Stonewater. (follow the signs). Best conditions are still in the open meadows around all 3 trailheads and when you get into the trees, that is where you will find some narrow areas, icy spots and organic material on the trails. The Walk-In Trailhead and the far entrance to the Sprint Loop and Hot Tub Hill are showing some exposed ground, so use caution in those areas.

Last night, just the skate was freshened up, as most of the existing classic is still looking good. The SnoCat was out on the Meadow Loop, the Cut-Off's and the Sprint Loop, while Ginzu's were out on the BCT from the end of the Meadow Loop out to Mountain Springs Lodge and then all the way up to the northern terminus,(minus the walking bridge at Stonewater detour, follow the signs) and including Stonewater Loop, Beaver Creek Loop and Swamp Creek Loop. These colder temperatures at night are really helping to preserve the snow that we do have on the trails and are allowing some really good skiing, so get out there and enjoy the snow!

CLOSED TRAILS now include all of the Mill Hill Complex (Mill Hill, Rowdy Coyote, Chainsaw Ridge, Cougar Run and Lumi Lane) due to trail wide bare spots, icy spots, melt outs and a mud slide. Signs are posted.

All wheel drive is recommended in all of the parking lots, but they are all looking a lot better than they were at the beginning of the week. There are icy spots, so please use caution when walking to the the trails.

Tour de Plain this weekend is CANCELED due to safety concerns on parts of the race course that have low snow coverage.  We apologize for the inconvenience and are still planning to make the rest of the series happen with the hope that we get more snow.  More information about the Tour de Plain Race can be found by clicking the link.

This is our first weekend of our Immersion Clinics which are for all levels to elevate your skills! Enjoy a hearty ski-in lunch at Mountain Springs Lodge plus a waxing lesson. The goal for beginners is for them to be able to independently ski on flat terrain, able to climb hills and know how to navigate skiing down a hill. Intermediate skiers will review technique fundamentals, explore drills, and address personal goals to improve your technique.

TRAIL PASSES ARE ALL ONLINE and can be purchased HERE, and as always, kids ski free, but they also need an online PASS.
