No new snow last night, but temperatures did get down to right around 20 degrees and the forecast for today is for mostly sunny skies and for it to remain just below freezing, which will be good for the trails as we are still in early season conditions and still need the ground to freeze.
The good news for today is that we have worked our best to get ALL 3 TRAILHEADS OPEN to expand your ski experience. We still have low snow in areas through the trees along with uneven trails where we don't have a deep base yet, so use caution when you are out there.
Unfortunately, we don't have a complete link between the trailheads, so we'll try to give a brief breakdown.
From the Meadow Loop Trailhead, we freshened up the skate on the Meadow Loop, Meadow Loop Cut-offs, the BCT now goes all the way out to Stonewater Loop up and over Hot Tub Hill, (but there is still low coverage in the trees and a large puddle to avoid near the horse pasture), Rowdy Coyote and Stonewater Loop is where the trail ends as there is a bridge that is not passable. The best conditions will be found here in the Meadow.
From the Beaver Creek Trailhead, there is skate and classic on Beaver Creek Loop and the BCT goes down towards Stonewater Loop, but does a turnaround before the bridge and then goes up to Swamp Creek Loop (be aware of thin spots in the trees along with avoiding a puddle). We don't recommend going north from Swamp Creek Loop across the road as there are thin spots and exposed water near the road crossing.
From the Osprey Lodge Trailhead, the BCT can be connected from the North Terminus down to Grizzly Mountain, with a slight re-route through the campground to avoid the marshy area. We also don't recommend going south on the BCT past Grizzly Mountain to the road crossing.
We are still working on getting all of our signage out, but again, we are excited to have more options for everyone to ski. Use caution in the parking lots, especially the Beaver Creek Lot that we have done our best to prep, but is not recommended for 2 wheel drive vehicles.
Trail passes are all online this year and can be purchased HERE, and and as always, kids ski free, but they also need an online PASS.
Thank you for your patience and support during this unusual winter and we hope that you can get out and enjoy the snow and sunshine today. Trail Ambassadors will again be out today to greet you at the trailheads and try to answer any questions you might have.
