Day 3 of the bitter cold... No new snow last night, but temperatures again were down below freezing, but it is sunny this morning and that will make it seem warmer than the 19 degrees that is forecasted as a high for today. Again, if you are going to brave these temps, please make sure the dress warm and keep moving.
Down at the Meadow Loop Trailhead, the SnoCat was out this morning setting fresh skate on just about everything south of Mountain Springs Lodge except the middle section of Cougar Run. The classic was still looking great from yesterday and the skate should be fantastic today.
The Ginzu's were out last night freshening up the skate lanes on the Beaver Creek Trail north of Mountain Springs Lodge all the way up to the Clear Creek Turnaround with a pass on Swamp Creek Loop. The classic is still holding up really well in these frigid temps and the skating should be quick today.
Be aware of thin spots on Hot Tub Hill, the Hitching Post area and a few spots between there and Stonewater Loop where the trail goes through the trees. Parking lots are also getting. a bit icy so use caution.
