Temperatures yesterday were again up in the 50's and then dropped down to just below freezing, so the the grooming happened last night before that happened. It should be really nice skiing this morning under mostly sunny skies with temps jumping up to the high 40's.
The SnoCat groomed skate and classic on the Meadow Loop, while the Ginzu was used on the Beaver Creek Trail out to Mountain Springs Lodge, the Meadow Loop Shortcuts and Mill Hill. (The access to Mill Hill is open even though the app shows that it is closed.)
The Ginzu was also used to set fresh classic on the BCT north of the Beaver Creek Trailhead up to the Clear Creek Turnaround and to freshen the skate lane on most of trails north of Mountain Springs Lodge. Hot Tub Hill and the Hitching Post Area have trail wide melt outs and icy sections that will need to be walked. They have not been able to keep up with the warm weather even with trying to farm snow. Use caution, especially anyone skiing the long course of the Tour de Plain. Thin and icy spots are showing under the trees, but overall there is still good skiing out there.
Rowdy Coyote, Chainsaw Ridge, Cougar Run and Lumi Lane are currently closed until we get more snow and the Walk in Trailhead has a slight detour into the Sprint Loop area because of a melt out.
Use caution in the parking lots, they could be icy and micro spikes are recommended. As the temperatures rise, be aware that they will start to get slushy, so use caution if in a low clearance 2wd vehicle.
